Information: Second Lieutenant William Fraser, 1st Batt. Black Watch, who died on September 29, 1915, of shrapnel wounds received in action in France, was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Fraser, 15 Willowbank Gardens, Belfast. He had been serving with the Black Watch (Territorials) and gained his commission for distinguished conduct on the field. He was subsequently transferred to the 1st Battalion, and had been with them about five weeks when he was fatally wounded whilst leading his platoon in an attack on an enemy trench. Lieutenant Fraser was a prominent figure in athletic circles in the North of Ireland.
