Information: Second Lieutenant Richard Christopher Davis, 3rd Batt. Manchester Regiment, was killed in action in Mesopotamia on March 8th, 1916. He was the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. James Davis, Harpur House, Drogheda, and was educated at Drogheda Grammar School and Wesley College, Dublin. He subsequently entered Trinity College, and was a member of the O.T.C. In December, 1914, he obtained his commission, and in May 1915, was sent to France attached to the Lahore Division of the Indian Expeditionary Force. He was wounded in June, 1915. In December, 1915, after a short leave, he went to Mesopotamia and joined General Lake's relief column. Lieut. Davis was a well known football player, and a good all-round athlete.
