Information: Major Lord Desmond Fitzgerald, 1st Batt. Irish Guards, heir-presumptive to the Duke of Leinster, was accidentally killed on duty in France. He was born in 1888, and was educated at Eton and Sandhurst, passing into the Irish Guards in February, 1909. He obtained his Captaincy in 1913, and in July last received his Majority. He had been twice wounded in action, had been mentioned in Sir John French's despatches, and awarded the Military Cross.
