Information: Lieutenant R.C. Byrne, 6th Royal Dublin Fusiliers, was mentioned in Sir Ian Hamilton's despatches, and has been awarded the Military Cross. He took part in the landing of the 10th Division at Suvla Bay, and in consequence of his services to his battalion during their stay in Gallipoli he has been referred to in many letters sent home as the “King of Quartermasters”. After leaving Gallipoli he accompanied the 10th Division to Salonika, where he is still serving. Lieut. Byrne has been 22 years in the Army, serving all this time with the Dublin Fusiliers, in which regiment he has four brothers, two of whom have been wounded in Gallipoli. Before the present war he saw active service in South Africa, for which he received the Queen's Medal with six clasps. He is the eldest son of Mrs. Byrne, The Demesne, Lucan, Co. Dublin.
