Information: Captain Ernest Hamilton, 10th Dublin Fusiliers, a son of Mrs. Hamilton, the White House, Portrush, enlisted as a private in the 7th Royal Dublin Fusiliers shortly after the outbreak of the war. He was quickly raised to the rank of Lieutenant, and went with his battalion to the Dardanelles, where he was wounded and afterwards invalided home. For distinguished conduct in the battle of Chocolate Hill he received his Captaincy in the 10th Dublin Fusiliers.
