Information: Sergeant Major Henry Hamilton, 16th King's Royal Rifles, elder son of Mrs. Hamilton, The White House, Portrush, has been awarded the D.C.M. for gallantry in attempting to rescue two comrades who had been sent out to make a reconnaissance. He found them within five yards of the German trenches, the one killed and the other seriously wounded. As Sergeant-Major Hamilton was endeavouring to bring the latter to safety a machine gun was turned on them, killing the wounded man and severely wounding Sergeant Major Hamilton, who is now recovering from his wounds.
