Information: Major Charles George Pack-Beresford, 1st Battalion Queen's Own Royal West Kent Regiment, was killed in action near Mons. He entered the army in 1889; saw service on the north-west frontier of India (1897-98); was present at the action at Landakai and the operations in Bajaur and in the Mamund country; he was also in the attack and capture of the Tanga Pass, and was awarded a Medal with clasp. He served in the South African War (1899-91), taking part in the operations in the Orange River Colony and in the Transvaal. He was mentioned in despatches, and was awarded the Queen's Medal with four clasps.
