Information: Captain Gerald Farrell Boyd D.S.O., Leinster Regiment, entered the service May, 1900, and obtained his captaincy in March, 1904; served in the South African War from 1899 to 1902; was present at the Relief of Ladysmith and the action at Colenso; took part in the operations of the Orange River Colony, and in the Transvaal and Cape Colony. He was employed with the Mounted Infantry, and was mentioned in despatches upon three occasions, receiving the Medal for distinguished service in the field; he had the Queen's Medal with three clasps and the King's Medal with two clasps.
