Information: Capt. Miles Bertie Cunninghame Carbery, Royal Irish Fusiliers, killed in action. Son of the late Mr. William Carbery and Mrs. Carbery, of 17 Hartingdon Mansions, Eastbourne. He entered the service from the Militia in December 1897, being commissioned as 2nd Lieutenant to the Royal Irish Fusiliers. In December, 1899, he was promoted Lieutenant, and received his Captaincy in February, 1903. In the South African War he saw service, taking part in the operations in Natal, including the action at Talana, where he was dangerously wounded. He had the Queen's Medal with one clasp.
