Information: Captain Gerald Hugh FitzGerald, 4th Royal Irish Dragoon Guards, who was killed in action. He was the only son of the late Lord Maurice FitzGerald and Lady Maurice FitzGerald, and grandson of the fourth Duke of Leinster. He entered the Army in December, 1907, was gazetted first Lieutenant in November, 1908, and obtained his Captaincy in November, 1913. He was a brilliant young officer and keen sportsman, and was well known in hunting circles in County Wexford, where his mother, Lady Maurice FitzGerald, resides at Johnstown Castle. He was married last August to Miss Charrington, and left almost immediately after the ceremony for the front.
