Information: Captain Norman Jerome Beauchamp Leslie, Rifle Brigade, who was killed in action, was the eldest son of Colonel John Leslie and grandson of Sir John and Lady Constance Leslie, of Glasslough, Co. Monaghan. Capt. Leslie entered the Rifle Brigade as second Lieutenant in September, 1905, being promoted Lieutenant in October, 1909, and last May he obtained his promotion as Captain. During the period from September, 1908, to April, 1910, he acted as A.D.C. to the General Officer Commanding in Egypt, and in April, 1912, he was gazetted A.D.C. to the Governor of Bengal. He was exceedingly popular both in the Army and in his own county. He was a first class polo player, a brilliant swordsman and very fond of sport.
