Information: Major C. B. Hoey, 7th Royal Dublin Fusiliers, has been mentioned in Sir Ian Hamilton's despatches for services rendered in the operations in Gallipoli. Major Hoey is the only son of Mr. Frederick Hoey, Belfast, and grandson of the late Mr. Robert Hoey, Kilmacud House, Stillorgan. He was educated at Sandhurst, joined the 1st Batt. Royal Dublin Fusiliers in 1902, and received his Captaincy in 1912. Major Hoey served in the South African War, and obtained the Queen's Medal with four clasps. On the outbreak of the present war he was posted to the 7th Batt. R.D.F. as Adjutant to Col. G. Downing, and proceeded with his battalion to the Dardanelles, where he took part in the landing at Suvla Bay, and subsequent Balkan operations.
