Information: Captain William Harald Barker, Royal Garrison Artillery, was a son of the late Rev. Canon William Chichester Barker, M.A., Incumbent of Kilbroney Parish, Rostrevor, and of Mrs. Barker, Rosina, Rostrevor. He was born in 1881, educated at Aldenham. Herts, and obtained his commission as 2nd Lieutenant R.A. 19th December, 1900, and was promoted Captain in December, 1913. He served in Gibraltar, Malta, Aden Hinterland, and in India from 1905 to 1910. He was appointed Adjutant of the Lancashire and Cheshire R.G.A. (T.F.) in 1911. He volunteered for active service on the outbreak of war. and proceeded to the Dardanelles in July, 19I5. He was fatally wounded on November 4, and died in First Australian Clearing Station, Anzac, November 5, 1915.
