Information: Company Sergeant Major W. J. Holmes, Irish Guards, has been awarded the D.C.M. for gallantry in going within a few yards of the enemy's lines and bringing back information which led to the destruction of a German trench. He also brought in a wounded comrade. He is a son of Mr. Thos. Holmes, Low Road, Lisburn. One of his brothers, Private J. Holmes, Royal Marines, was killed while serving on H.M.S. London early in the war, and another brother is at present serving with the Irish Guards.
