Information: Lieutenant Colonel Michael Hudson Courtenay, Royal Garrison Artillery, who died of wounds received in action in Mesopotamia, was a son of the late Mr. William Courtenay, of Rathcoole, Co. Wicklow, and brother of Mrs. Gerald Moriarty, Ergenagh Rectory, Omagh, Co. Tyrone. He received his commission in the Royal Field Artillery in 1886, was promoted Captain in 1897 and Major in 1905. He was at one time Adjutant of the old Donegal Artillery in Letterkenny after which he served in the R.G.A., and became Lieutenant Colonel in 1914.
