Information: Lieutenant R. W. Proudfoot, 2nd Black Watch, who was killed in Mesopotamia, was the nephew of Mr. Alex Proudfoot, 127 Park Avenue, Belfast. He enlisted in 1900 and served in the South African War, subsequently going with his battalion to India. At the battle of Loos he received his commission as a reward of his services, an honour which he had twice previously refused.
