Information: Lieutenant Jerome Lennie Walker, Royal Irish Rifles, was born in Cork and was educated at Campbell College, Belfast. At the outbreak of the war he was in business with his father, of the firm of Reilly and Walker, Courtrai, Belgium. The family escaped, but Lieutenant Walker remained behind and assisted the Red Cross with his motor car in conveying wounded to the hospitals. He had some very trying experiences at Ypres. He ultimately came to Belfast, and received his Commission in the Rifles in December, 1914. He went to France with his regiment and assisted on the staff till he met his death in action on May 5th, 1916. Lieutenant Walker's father resides at Wynard, Helen's Bay, Co. Down.
