Information: Captain Ernest Richard Cooke, Royal Irish Fusiliers, killed in action, was the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. R.E. Cooke, of Teignmouth. He was educated at Dunstable College and Birmingham University, where he took his diploma in chemistry. He was a member of the staff of Messrs. Guinness and Co., of Dublin. At the outbreak of the war he obtained his commission as lieutenant in the Royal Irish Fusiliers, and was promoted captain in January of this year.
