Information: Captain Henry R. Cruise, 1st King's African Rifles, died of fever on April 22nd at Karonga, where he had been stationed since the outbreak of the war. He was the youngest son of the late Sir Francis Cruise, and commenced his career under Sir Gerald Strickland, then Governor of the Leeward Islands. He subsequently served in the Colonial service, and in 1912 was appointed Assistant Resident Commissioner at Cheradzulu, near Blantyre, which post he held until the outbreak of the war, when he was appointed Transport Officer to the 1st King's African Rifles, and later was promoted temporary Captain.
