            Information: Lieut. Alexander Douglas Peel Hamilton, Royal Marine Light Infantry, who was killed in action off Jutland on H.M.S. Defence on the 31st May, 1916, in his 20th year, was the only surviving son of Mr. W. A. Hamilton, Coxtown, Donegal. He was educated at The Wick, Brighton, and Wellington College, and received his commission in August, 1914. He passed as a first-class rifle shot. In the naval engagement the aft guns of the Defence were put out of action, but she continued to fire her forward guns until blown out of the water, both magazines exploding, having previously, assisted by Warspite, sunk two German cruisers.
