Information: Lieutenant H. Manifold Mitchell, Royal Munster Fusiliers, has been awarded the Military Cross “for conspicuous gallantry during a hostile attack. He rallied his men, reconstructed his trench and re-organized his defences under difficult circumstances. His personal courage and power of command helped much to avert a serious situation. Lieutenant Mitchell is the youngest son of the late Dr. A.G. Mitchell, and of Mrs. Mitchell, The Island, Kinnetty. His elder brother, Lieut. Courtland G. Mitchell, 6th Royal Irish Regiment, was dangerously wounded in France
