Information: Squadron Quartermaster Sergeant John Creagh, S.A.M.R., eldest son of the late Francis Creagh, The Castle, Listowel, Co. Kerry, and of Mrs. Creagh, Dalkey, Co. Dublin, was educated at Portora Royal School, Enniskillen. Joined B.P.'s army from Cape Police, and fought all through the Boer war, where he got the medals and had a commission. He was in the siege of Kimberley, and afterwards at the relief of Mafeking, and was one of the three first to enter, and was severely wounded by a splinter from a shell which killed his horse under him. He joined the present war for active service, was through the successful campaign in German West Africa. He died on June 15th of gastritis, contracted while on active service.
