Information: Second Lieutenant Victor Marshall Giles, 7th Royal Irish Rifles, was killed in action on June 28th, 1916. He was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Marshall Giles, Navan, Co. Meath, and was educated at Preston College, Navan, and King's College. He joined the Cadet Corps, 7th Leinsters, in May, 1915, and was gazetted to the 7th R.I.R. in October of the same year. He had been on active service with his regiment for the past six months and was a very capable and courageous officer
