Information: Lieutenant William Clark McConnell, Royal Irish Rifles, who was killed in action on July 8th, was the youngest son of Sir Robert McConnell, Bart., D.L., Glen Dhu, Strandtown, Belfast. He was gazetted to the Royal Irish Rifles in October, 1914, and was attached to a battalion of the regiment as machine-gun officer in September, 1915. He was educated at Shibbington House, Fareham, and on the outbreak of war was a partner in the firm of McConnell and Bailey, engineers, London.
