Information: Lieutenant W. T. Richardson, Ulster Division, youngest son of Mrs. Richardson, St. Dolough's, Co. Dublin, killed in action on 1st July, was a well known athlete, and for a number of years was a prominent member of the Old Wesley Rugby Football Club. Early in March, 1915, he obtained his commission in the 12th Batt. Royal Irish Rifles, and having completed his training left for the front with his regiment some ten months ago, but was attached to the Infantry Brigade (Ulster Division) at the time of his death. From reports to hand we learn he was one of the first to leave his trench on the opening day of the “big advance”, but had only reached the parapet when he was shot through the head. Lieut. Richardson was a popular official of the Midland Great Western Railway, Broadstone.
