Information: Second Lieutenant Robert Victor Hamilton, 9th Batt. Royal Irish Rifles, who was killed in action on July 1st, 1916, was a son of Mr. James Hamilton, 2 Glendarra, Cham wood Avenue, Belfast. He was educated at the Royal Academic Institution, Belfast. At the outbreak of the war he held an appointment in the Treasury Department, Dublin Castle. He joined the Army as a cadet in March, 1915. and after training was gazetted to the 9th R.I.R. in September, 1915, and in March, 1916, went to the front.
