Information: Lieutenant George Murray Rogers, 13th Royal Irish Rifles (1st County Down Volunteers), killed in action 1st July, was the only son of Mr. G. M. Rogers, Hazelbank, Banbridge, who is a prominent figure in the flax trade. Lieut. Rogers, who had been prominently identified with the Down Volunteers, was in Courtrai in charge of his father's business when the war broke out, but succeeded in getting away before the German invasion. On returning he joined the Ulster Division, and received his commission as Second Lieutenant on the 12th November, 1914.
