Information: Second Lieutenant Walter Whitehead, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, who was killed in action in France on September 6th, 1916, was a son of Mr. George Whitehead, 86 Drumcondra Road. Soon after the outbreak of the war he joined the Rugby Battalion of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers, and in October, 1915, was given a commission in another Battalion of the regiment. He was educated at Ormond and Rathmines College, and had been only about a fortnight at the front when he fell.
