Information: Lieutenant William Hubert Potterton, Royal Engineers, aged 24, who was killed in action on 24th July, was the eldest son of William Potterton, 1 Palmerston Park, Dublin, and Freffans, Co. Meath. He was educated at St. Andrew's College and Trinity Colley Dublin, where he graduated in Arts and Engineering. He was in the Engineering Unit of D.U.O.T.C., and played football for St. Andrew's Cup team, and was later a member of Wanderers' Football Club. He obtained a commission as Temporary Lieutenant in the Royal Engineers in May, 1915. He married in July, 1915, Betty, daughter of Marcus B. Mathews, Northern Bank, Dublin.
