Information: Sec.Lieut. Francis Joseph Kenny, 5th Connaught Rangers, who was killed in action in France on 9th August, 1916, was the eldest son of Dr. Joseph M. S. Kenny, Fernmount, Granard, and was educated at Blackrock College. He joined the Canadians at the outbreak of the war and came to England with the second contingent from Calgary, Alberta, and was gazetted to the 5th Con. Rangers in October, 1915. Being in Dublin at the rebellion he volunteered his services, and was attached to the R.I. Rifles. He was attached to the 1st Inniskillings when he was killed.
