Information: Second Lieut. John Arthur Knox Gildea, Royal Warwickshire Regiment, who was killed in action on July 11th, in his 24th year, was the son of Mr. A. K. Gildea, D.L., Hollymount, Co. Mayo, and was educated at Eastbourne College and Dublin University. In November, 1912, he went to Canada and entered the Canadian Bank of Commerce. On the outbreak of the war he enlisted in the McGill and Toronto contingent of Princess Patricia's Regiment, with whom he came to England and received his commission in the Royal Warwickshire Regiment in December, 1915. He went to France in June, 1916, and fell gallantly whilst cheering and encouraging his men under very trying conditions.
