Information: Second Lieutenant Sydney H. Field, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, died of gas poisoning near Ypres on 9th August. He was in charge of his platoon, and had succeeded during the night in beating off the Germans, who had attacked with gas. When relieved he took his men back, but succumbed to the effects of the gas a few hours later. He was the elder son of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Field, 8 Rostrevor Terrace, Dublin.
