Information: Lieutenant Nicholas J. Egan, 9th Royal Dublin Fusiliers, who has been awarded a Military Cross for gallantry on service in France, was wounded in a bombing attack on June 10th last. A mound and crater had been captured from the Germans by a party under Lieut. Egan on the night of the 8th June. On the 10th the Huns counter-attacked, but the attack was broken up by Lieutenant Egan, who led a small party into No Man's Land and bombed the Germans in the open and prevented them retaking the position. Lieutenant Egan is the eldest son of Mr. John J. Egan, J.P., 12 Longford Terrace, Monkstown, Co. Dublin.
