Information: Major George Francis Farran, Royal Field Artillery, was the eldest son of Mr. G. H. Farran, Georgeville, Highfield road, Dublin, late Commissioner of the High Court, Bombay. Major Farran received his commission from Woolwich in 1900 and served several years in India. In 1910 he was promoted Captain, and on obtaining his majority went to France in November, 1914, returning to England in the following February to take part in training the new Army. In July, 1915, he returned to France with his battery, which he commanded until July 18th, 1916, when, during the battle of the Somme, he was killed in action.
