Information: Capt. Henry Francis Downing, 7th Leinster Regiment, who was killed in action on 3rd September, 1916, was the eldest son of the late Eugene Downing, Killarney, and of Mrs. Leonard, The Square, Listowel. He received a commission in December, 1914, was promoted some months later, and went to France with the 16th (Irish) Division in December, 1915. Captain Downing was a keen sportsman, and a very capable soldier.
