Information: Major John Windsor Roe, Royal Field Artillery, died in a hospital in France on 7th August, 1916, from wounds received in action on August 5th. He was the son of the late Mr. William Roe, of Ely Place, Dublin, and was in his 37th year. He passed from Woolwich into the Artillery in August, 1900, and acted as Adjutant of Territorial Forces from 1910 to 1913. At the outbreak of the war he was serving in India. He went through the Mesopotamia campaign and was twice mentioned in despatches, and in October, 1915, he was invalided home after enteric. On June 3rd last he left for France in command of a battery. Major Roe married in 1910 Ada Roberta, only daughter of the late Robert Seeds, K.C., and of Lady Kaye, 11 Fitzwilliam Square, Dublin, and leaves his widow and one son surviving.
