Information: Captain William Herbert Monson, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, who died of wounds received in action on September 7th, 1916, was the second surviving son of the late Mr. G.T. Monson, Avondale, Terenure, of the firm of Messrs. Monson, Robinson and Co., and Mrs. Monson, 16 Greenmount Road, Terenure. On the outbreak of the war he at once volunteered and was gazetted to the Royal Dublin Fusiliers, receiving his promotion in December, 1915. Captain Monson was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry and devotion to duty at Hulluch on April 27th, 1916. He had served in the South African War, and received the Queen's Medal with three clasps, and the King's Medal with two clasps.
