Information: Second Lieutenant J.A. Williams, 3rd Battalion Royal Irish Rifles, who was killed in the battle of the Somme on September 6th, was the fourth and youngest son of Mr. J. A. Williams, Northland Road, Londonderry, and was only in his 18th year. He was educated at Foyle College, Londonderry, and subsequently was a medical student in Edinburgh, where he enlisted in the Students' Company of the 16th Royal Scots, and later received his commission in the Royal Irish Rifles.
