Information: Second Lieutenant Richard James Trench Wingfield, Royal Field Artillery, was the eldest son of Lieutenant Colonel the Rev. and Mrs. W.E. Wingfield, of Lismara, Greystones, he was educated at Castle Park, Dalkey, and Marlborough. When the war broke out he passed the entrance to Woolwich, and was then given a direct commission in the Royal Field Artillery. He went abroad with the 10th Division, and was on service in Gallipoli until the evacuation. Later he went to Mesopotamia, and was killed in action there on April 27th. He was mentioned in Sir Charles Monro's despatch of March 6th for gallant and distinguished service in the field.
