Information: Captain J. A. Sinton, Indian Medical Service, was awarded the Victoria Cross for conspicuous gallantry while with General Aylmer's force on the march to Kut-el-Amara. Though very severely wounded Captain Sinton continued to tend the wounded throughout the action, which lasted for three days, until the Turks evacuated their position and General Avlmer's force entered the village of Shaikh Saad. Captain Sinton is a son of Mrs. Sinton, Ulster Villas, Lisburn Road, Belfast.
