Information: 440491 Private Richard Alfred Aylmer Newell, who is reported to have been killed accidentally by a bomb explosion while on active service in France on September 9th, was the second son of the late Mr. A.C. Newell, R.M., Ballinasloe, and Mrs. Newell, 2 Crosthwaite Terrace, Kingstown. Early in 1915 he volunteered as a private in the Canadian Infantry. He went to the front in January, 1916, and had been continuously in the trenches since then.
