Information: Lieutenant Walter Ralph Hackett, who was killed in action in France on October 4, 1916, was the only son of Colonel and Mrs. Hackett, of Brooklawn, Chapelizod, Co. Dublin. On the outbreak of war he volunteered and was given a Lieutenant's commission in the Royal West Kent Regiment. Shortly after joining he was appointed regimental transport officer, and very soon transport officer to the brigade, which position he held till last March. Lieut. Hackett married, in 1907, Eleanor, the eldest daughter of Hon. Mrs. McCausland and the late Mr. C. T. McCausland, D.L., Drenagh, Co. Londonderry.
