Information: Lieutenant James Downing, Royal Irish Regiment, was killed in action on September 3rd, 1916. He was a member of St. Andrew's Volunteer Training Corps prior to obtaining his commission in the Royal Irish Regiment in November last. He had only been a few weeks at the Front when he fell in action. Lieutenant Downing was a brother of Mr. Edward Downing, 369 Ormeau Road, Belfast.
