Information: Lieutenant William F. Hogg, is the eldest son of William Hogg, 63 Anglesea Road, Ballsbridge, and 23 Bachelor's Walk, Dublin. He was educated at the Endowed School, Bangor, and St. Andrew's College, Dublin, from the latter entering Trinity, October, 1914, as a junior exhibitioner. After taking out his first year in Honours Mathematics in January, he was gazetted to 3rd (Reserve) Royal Irish Rifles in March, 1915, from Trinity O.T.C. He was promoted to his present rank in February, 1916, and sent to France a month later, where he was attached to his present battalion with the 36th (Ulster) Division, and was awarded the Military Cross for gallantry during the offensive on the Somme.
