Information: Lieutenant James Kenneth Macgregor Greer, M.C., Irish Guards, was the only son of Thomas Macgregor Greer, of Ballymoney, Co. Antrim, and Mrs. Greer, daughter of the late Sir Charles Reed, M.P. He was educated at Highgate School and Trinity College, Dublin. At the outbreak of war, on hearing that the North Irish Horse were to join the Expeditionary Force, he enlisted as a trooper in that regiment, and served through the retreat and the subsequent campaign on the Marne and Aisne. In December, 1914, he was given a commission for service in the field in the 3rd Dragoon Guards. On May 18th, 1915, he was wounded at Festubert, and received the Military Cross for his gallantry in that engagement. He returned to the front last March as a Lieutenant in the Irish Guards, and was dangerously wounded on the 15th Sept., and died at Rouen on October 3rd, 1916, in his 31st year.
