Information: Brigadier-General Louis Murray Phillpotts, D.S.O., C.M.G., R.F.A., of Russellstown Park, Carlow, was killed in action on September 8th, 1916. He had served in the South African War, where he took part in the advance on Kimberley and subsequent operations, and afterwards served in the Transvaal. For his services during the operations he was mentioned in despatches and received the Queen's Medal with three clasps. In 1915 he attained the rank of Brigadier-General. He was the second son of the Rev. H. J. and Mrs. Phillpotts, of Shadwell, Speldhurst, Kent.
