Information: Second Lieutenant Geoffrey Cecil Monck Hamilton, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, aged 21 years, fell at the taking of Ginchy on September 9th. He joined the Cadet Corps in March, 1915, got his commission on July 1st of that year, and went out to France with the 16th (Irish) Division as machine gun officer. On December 19th Colonel Bellingham writes of him :— “He was one of the most fearless officers I have ever met, and if anything was too brave. Had he lived he would have been recommended by me for his very gallant behaviour in the face of the enemy.”
