Information: Captain William Joseph Murphy, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, who was killed in action whilst gallantly leading his men, was the only son of the late Mr. Edward Murphy and Mrs. Murphy, Kill House, Tullow, Co. Carlow, and was in his 34th year. Shortly after the outbreak of war he joined a Cadet Corps, subsequently obtaining his commission, very quickly being promoted Captain. He had been at the front since November, 1915, and distinguished himself in many engagements.
