Information: Temporary Captain William John Menaul, Royal Irish Fusiliers, has been awarded the Military Cross for conspicuous gallantry during operations. With five scouts he observed the operations from an exposed position only 400 yards from the enemy's lines. He was under heavy shell and machine gun fire throughout the day, but sent in twenty one clear messages to his C.O. He has also done fine work on patrol.
