Information: Second Lieut. William Laban Kirkham, Royal West Kent Regiment, (died of wounds on 21st October) was the youngest son of Mr. James Kirkham, Kinlough House, Cong, Co. Mayo. In February, 1915, he volunteered as a Sapper in the Royal Engineers, later being promoted to Pay Office, when on August 25, 1915, he obtained a commission in the Royal West Kent Regiment. In July he got a transfer back to the Royal Engineers (attached), entering College of Engineering, Chatham, for course lasting eleven weeks, and on Oct. 4 proceeded to France.
